Philodendron ‘Black Cardinal’ No. 1 Variegated is a rare variegated selection of the classic Black Cardinal hybrid, distinguished by its broad, oval foliage and deep, dramatic coloration. New leaves emerge in rich burgundy to dark cherry tones before maturing to near-black or very deep green, creating a moody backdrop for the variegation. Cream, soft yellow, and occasionally blush-toned patches appear as marbling, splashes, or bold sectoral sections across the thick, glossy surface. The contrast between the dark base and lighter patterning gives each leaf a striking, high-impact appearance while maintaining the plant’s compact, self-heading form.

This cultivar grows upright without the need for support and performs best in bright, indirect light to maintain strong variegation, with evenly moist, well-draining soil, moderate to high humidity, and warm, stable indoor conditions.
