Philodendron ‘Green Congo’ Variegated (True Species) is an extremely rare, self-heading aroid prized for its broad, glossy, leathery leaves splashed with creamy white to pale yellow marbling. Botanically, it is a variegated form of the non-climbing species Philodendron tatei Krause ssp. melanochlorum, not a modern hybrid Congo. Variegation in the true species is naturally unpredictable and can range from fine speckling to large white blotches, similar to Monstera albo types, which contributes to its rarity and collector value. True-species plants are far less common than newer hybrids such as ‘Green Congo Nuclear.’ It maintains a strong, upright, self-heading growth habit and grows best in warm, stable conditions with evenly moist, well-draining soil.
