Philodendron polypodioides is a distinctive climbing species known for its deeply lobed, fern-like foliage and architectural growth habit. Juvenile plants produce smaller, simpler leaves, but as the plant matures, the foliage becomes increasingly divided, forming narrow, elongated lobes that give the leaves a skeletal, almost polypody-fern appearance. The leaf surface is medium to deep green with a matte to lightly glossy finish, and the overall form becomes more dramatic with size and age.

This species thrives in bright, indirect light, warm temperatures, and moderate to high humidity. It prefers evenly moist conditions in a well-draining, airy aroid mix. As a true climber, Philodendron polypodioides benefits greatly from vertical support, which encourages larger, more deeply cut mature foliage and a more pronounced adult form.
